This is a small low-cost restaurant run by real Peruvians. The food looks much better than the restaurant itself, and it tastes great. Unlike my expectations, the food was not very greasy. The only problem is that they cannot handle large groups easily because their kitchen is small. Also, I wish they use better drinking glasses.

Wow there Ceviche is a Must...Toy different from your typical Mexican ceviche but delicious. I Admit adding tapatio and eating with tostadas crossed my mind, lol, but still good. Also the beef hearts, I was a lil sketchy about, but my dinner date convinced me otherwise and I gave them a try. No regrets, and wi defimitely be back to try out more menu items.

I'm on a mission to find some good eats in the SFV. I live pretty darn close to this place and the area is generally lacking in good food. Upon seeing the high reviews, I decided to make the trek out here. Being familiar with the area, I felt a bit scared because the area looks shady during the day, and boy it looked shadier at night. But after my initial 5 minutes of fright, it was all good. The place has it's own private lot and ample lighting. The inside decor is simple and nothing to write home about. The two things we got were Lomo Saltado and Pollo Saltado. Both were super tasty. Soaked fries and tender meat galore. I liked the taste of the pollo more than the rib meat. It just had a better overall taste and I'd probably get that again. Each dish was the right amount of sauce and spices. It wasn't super salty like other Saltado's I've had, so that was awesome. The only downers were that relative to the cost (12 and 13 dollars if i recall correctly), it's quite pricey compared to some other establishments. It's a good amount of food that will get you to full but not disgustingly full (meaning no left overs at all). Also, they charge for water since they give bottled water. Not sure if I had to specify tap water, but that may be my bad on my part.

Greeted at the door with a smile and the fantastic smell of chicken, wood and fire. This place is really great!

3 1/2 stars. I bump it to 4 because I'm such a fan of Peruvian food in general, and it's nice to have the option in this area. Pollo a la Brasa - the chicken is seasoned nicely, and cooked well, so that it is not dry. Ceviche - we got the mixed ceviche, spicy. It was very tasty. Tangy, bold and clean flavors, and fresh seafood. It comes with half a yam, half a boiled potato, and some very large corn (I don't recall what this type is called, but it is good). Lomo saltado - this was a little on the salty side, and the meat could be a little more tender. But, it was tasty. I tried the yucca as one of my sides. Loved it. I really like the texture and flavor of yucca, and this was fried well, golden and crispy on the outside, not too greasy. I would definitely return if in the area again.

Restaurants dont realize that service goes along way when the food is mediocre at best. The chicken is not that great. For better chicken go up Van Nuys to Ay Papa Que Rico. Way better pollos a la brasa and a way friendlier staff. Lomo was just okay.

I was excited to try this place because I've been looking for a good Peruvian place near my home. Maybe if I had dined in it would have been better, but we ordered our food to go. First of all its expensive but I will pay the price for good food! We get home and theres very little rice. Rice is so cheap, why skimp on it? Then it was very undercooked so even with the sauce from the food and the green sauce it was barely edible. The chicken was ok. But to me the portions were small. Kind of disappointing and I think I would rather drive a little further to get better food than settle for something mediocre. Sorry Takatis.

The lomo saltado is the only thing i have tried here. Its "aight", but its on the expensive side. Ive had better unfortunately. I would keep looking if your craving Lomo.

Yesterday I had a 5 star lunch experience. My friend Seth brought me here and basically ordered for us: 1. 1/4 chicken plate 2. plantains 3. fries 4. purple drink called a chicha I think? Simple place (plastic plates and all) with just wonderful food, service, and clearly a local clientele made of regulars. We were told they're celebrating 3 years in business - hope they have another good 3 years! The chicken was juicy, tasty throughout the entire piece of meat... and just perfect. The little sauces we had for dipping were also really good (I liked the hottest one). I'll be back to this place for sure!

Came here for Mother's Day and the service suck ass and takes forever to get my chicken and Burritoes...it took almost 1 1/2 to get our orders .. I'm not sure why it took so long just for a chicken and Burritoes... I

Bomb! I work close by to this place and they make excellent Peruvian food. Their ceviche is delish (my sister loves ceviche and gives theirs an A lol)and I love their lomo saltado! The lomo burrito is so good too! Always go here. Oh and haven't had their chicken in a bit but I got to say its reaaally good. The Sanguchon is delicious as well.

DELICIOSA!!! Best pollo in the valley. Hands. Down. I'm a rotisserie chicken expert. Trust me, I am, and the way I eat chicken bones proves it. Takatis was excellent today...the woman and I had a steak burrito and a half a chicken with beans and plantains, respectively (had to throw in the lawyer lingo). The meat and chicken are moist and delicious. The trio of sauces that they have are second to none. Inca Cola to wash it all down. I'm a changed man after today's meal. Takatis I'll be dreaming of your delicious food until our next encounter. Don't tell my wife to be but I think I love you.

This is one of the most expensive hole-in-wall Peruvian restaurants in the San Fernando Valley... but it's okay, depending on what you order... I had the ceviche de pescado, and pollo a la brasa, and I was impressed! The ceviche is one of the best I've had in LA, if not the best! The pollo a la brasa was delicious as well. I do not recommend the picarones. The dough lacked the pumpkin taste. All I tasted was the caramel. Maybe it was just this one dough batch. There are only about 8 tables, so be prepare to wait during weekend lunch hours. You can pick up pollo a la brasas to go and earn stamps on a card for rewards. Private lot next to the restaurant. Clean place, but service was just okay.

Gave this place a try because we were in the area. Not the greatest of areas as the day we were there, there were a few squad cars and helicopter hovering around across the street. They do have a parking lot so thats a plus. We ordered the Sanguchon Sandwich and a Lomo Saltado Burrito. Both were excellent. The chicken was tasty and my only gripe was the yams kind of threw off the flavor for me. Comes with 3 sauces on the side, and the green one was definitely my favorite. Took a bit to cook but that's expected to get freshness. My only complaint was the constant chopping noise coming from the kitchen, but you get over that after a few minutes. I will definitely be back to try a few other things on their menu.

Best Pollo a la Brasa in town!! If you're a rotisserie chicken fan you should definitely try this; a whole chicken with two sides will run you about $20, and the sides are generously portioned for sharing (I love their home-made french fries). When dining in, just bear in mind that this is a family business, so service isn't as polished as most corporate, chain-type restaurants. They'll answer questions and get your order right, but they're not very attentive and don't really try to enhance your experience. The only other complaint I have is that they have gotten much more expensive than a couple years ago when I started dining here (outside of the pollo a la brasa mentioned above); I used to go weekly, but just can't swing it anymore. All in all, however, this place probably has the best Peruvian food in the area. Check it out, you will not be disappointed.

I stumbled across this place (thanks to Yelp) when in desperate need for food on a Sunday afternoon. I tried the Sanguchon, a sandwich that has since then completely changed my life. Its true. Since that Sunday, I've been back at least twice a week, sometimes 3x a week every week, for lunch. FOOD = so good, you don't even notice the building around you. You'll even forget your name. Their dishes are so delicious its beyond words. DECOR = non existent/lacking. Once you start eating you stop caring or commenting. SERVICE = friendly. Sometimes they need a friendly nudge, and who doesn't every now and again. Grab any available table and have a seat. I suggest eating on-site before you choose take-out. Its just better that way. For first timers, In order - the top 3: Sanguchon - the most incredible chicken sandwich. Its got all sorts of deliciousness going on, you'll forever question any other sandwich that claims to be any good. It gets emotional once you start adding the various sauces. You'll be swept away. Lomo Saltado - Rib eye fireworks for your senses. So clean. So pure. So real. Tacu Tacu - Rib eye again - it might be the first dish you ever eat without saying a single word, shaking your head, chewing with your eyes closed, imagining paradise. Its so flavorful and so deep, I suggest at least an hour of alone time afterward so you can fully enjoy what just happened. If you like seafood, the rumor is: Ceviche! Regardless of the dish, make sure you get the sauces. Try each, then start combining - next level. I typically reserve 5-stars for extraordinary-everything when it comes to a dining experience, and Takatis is my exception. Its not fancy at all, nor should it strive to be. It simply is what it is, straight up Pollo a la Brasa, with no apologies.

Yeah I'll have to disagree with a few people here. Ive ate here twice now. Two months difference on both visits. I was served almost identical portions and flavor. The Lomo Saltado is not that great. Soggy oily fries and freezer burnt steak is what both my wife and I received. Very much a disappointment. I know a good Lomo Saltado when I have it. I'd keep searching for something better here in the valley if I was you.

  • Javier A.

The pollo a la brasa here is probably the best in town and this whole chicken special is priced reasonably. Some of their other dishes are also very good such as the saltado de pollo however a bit on the pricey side. I absolutely love the salsas specially the red one, however the last 3 times I ate here the salsas were extremely over salted. They need to go back to basics with the salsa and not try to over do it (it was good enough already doesn't need the extra salt) blah. Around 12noon it does get chaotic and you may need to call and order ahead.

  • Glz K.

Very crappy attitude of the girl working there; a plate that say it can be made with any type of meat I asked for chicken so she says we only carry this red meat; then why in the world would you say to make it with anything else, we left and didn't eat

I can't give more then 3 stars because I haven't tasted the food yet. I'm stuck at home and was excited to try the food. But if a business changes their delivery policy I think it's important to update Yelp and and any other multimedia used in promoting the business. I spent a little over 10 minutes reading reviews, looking at pictures and going over the menu; only to call and be told that they no longer deliver but "sorry we haven't updated Yelp yet" maybe you should get on that. :) I do hope to try their food someday. Just not today.

They were so excellent! It took 20 min to get food, but it was well worth it. Thy are known for their chicken, but got the noodles for 15$. It was so yummy!

This place has the word "pollo" in its title and pollo is clearly its strong suit. Flavorful, tender and plentiful for the money! A full chicken and two sides for $15.99? You can't beat such a deal on this side of the equator (although I've never been to Peru so I can't really attest to the price of such a meal south of the equator however I digress from the review at hand). The yucca fries are a delightful side dish along with a healthier option of salad with a homemade mustard vinaigrette. After reading about the lomo saltado here and having just tried their delicious pollo, I can aver, I will definitely be back. The only downside is that it's located in a less than desirable neighborhood but I ain't chicken!

This place is awesome I have been here once a long time ago and it was decent. Now this place is amazing the food so tasty and flavorful one of the best Peruvian foods one of my recommendations is the fideos saltado de mariscos OMG to die for!!

The only Peruvian food I've had prior to this was my friend mom's cooking. The chicken was super savory, moist, and well seasoned. The sweet potato and plantain was amazing. They accidentally gave me the steamed sweet potato even though I asked for the fried one--it's all good it ended up being a good balance to have something steamed. They have three bomb sauces. I would refer this place to friends and would definitely come back.

This place is consistently delicious, and always a good call. The Ceviche is some of the best I've had. The Lomo Saltado is good eats, the fries take on the meat juice and... YUM! The Sandwhichon with chicken, egg, and fries (note: fries on the inside only the menu shows them overflowing on the plate) is really GOOD the only thing it's missing to make it perfect is Bacon! Hint Hint if your reading this Takitis peeps. The fried rice is also good they use there own rotisserie chicken which is also BOMB! You really can't go wrong here everything is great. And a big thank you to the cute staff girl with the pretty eyes who warned me about the meter maid (even though I was coined up for an hour) good looking out for your customers. And the only reason I don't give them 5 stars is due to the lack of seating but that will never stop me from returning again and again, like a Peruvian Foodie crack head.

I felt like Peruvian so I decided to try take out from here. Maybe I'm spoiled by Mario's in LA but here are my thoughts. Slow. She told me to come in 25 mins, but took closer to 40. Not a big deal, but it seemed like they just started cooking when I got there and it wasn't crowded. Expensive. Got a pollo saltado and lomo saltado and came out to $30. Kind of a lot for a hole in the wall joint. Not very friendly. Not rude at all, and it's a hole in the wall in Van Nuys, so again not a big deal. Small portions. About 1/2 the size of Mario's. Food was good, but definitely not great. Also their green sauce is not even close to Mario's. 3 stars for an average place.

  • Ariell A.

It was 7 'o clock so there has to be lots of people eating dinner. Firstly, if you go, check if there is seating available before thinking of ordering to go. Plus, after we ordered half an ovened chicken, we wanted to order more, BUT they ran out of chicken. Just beware of the seating and how much food you order lawlz. Although, the food was good :D

Well well well Seems like we found our new favorite chicken spot in the valley. Walked in on a Friday night and was greeted by 2 beautiful woman. Took a seat; and ordered the lomo saltado and pollo a la braza with fries and rice. The chicken is slow roasted in a woodfired oven. Amazing!!!!! They brought us several different aji sauces to try along with our meal and they were all great!!! Staff is very friendly and helpful. I am looking forward to trying the sanguchon (some sort of sandwich that looks amazing) TAKATIS - PERU Thank you!!!!!

I would give 4 stars for the Steak Lomo Saltado alone, but unfortunately I wish there was more RICE! WARNING: The chicken version of the lomo saltado had the same flavor profile BUT the chicken had a weird chewy tendony texture, so stick with the steak.

    (3)
  • Benjamin G.

These guys got the chicken game on lock! Don't even mess with anything else your first time. Go for the 1/4 chicken and 2 sides or go beast mode with the 1/2 chicken and double down on the sweet potatoes(boiled). I've been here three times now and I seem to keep getting the chicken. Next time i'm going for the Saltado! Keep it up guys! Thanks for the hardwork!

I was on my lunch break & found this place on yelp.. I think it's a little too pricy for just a camaron salteado it was like $35 for just 2 plates a little too much. The service & staff were ok.

  • Ed B.

I would give this place four stars, because the food is awesome: that burrito especially, and the rotisserie chicken? man oh man. and with a side of yuca frita, dipped in those awesomely bright aji salsas? Lots of yes. But dudes, why is your water filter always broken? What do you mean I can't have water? Or do you do that on purpose so people buy bottled water? I don't think it's that. But there is some element of laziness/DGAF for the water filter to have been broken on separate and random occasions. Get that fixed. I'm sure it'll catch up to you one day on an inspection.

Cool: - A wood-fired oven with a huge stack of logs against the wall - Lomo saltado burrito was so good I had to pull over to enjoy it - The red sauce packs some slow heat Not-so-cool: - Using credit costs 50 cents extra I can dig it: - Food took 10-15 minutes to prepare. It was awesome, so I don't mind. Normally the credit card thing irks me enough that I'd deduct a star. The taste of their food made up for it.

  • Kathryn E.

Ehhhh. Nothing was very good. I had the sandwich that they recommended. It was soiled in sauce, stuffed with so many things you couldn't even focus on one taste. I don't like the area its located in and the parking lot is impossible. The staff is nice enough but unfortunately nothing stood out, so I have no reason to venture out there again.

Simple, clean, friendly staff, & delicious food. We had lomo saltado & 1/2 pollo with 2 sides. It would be 5 stars but my yuca frito was a bit soggy, but everything else was great. Rice in lomo saltado was fluffy & cooked just right. Meat had an awesome flavor. Bachata music playing in the background. Very pleasant staff. We'll be back for sure!

My first time at this place and i was very much pleased. I have been to many peruvian reataurants in Los Angeles and i wow. I tried the Lomo Saltado and it was delish. I am for sure coming back to try everything on the menu. 4 stars because there is more food to be eaten. Good service too.

Damn.... Food here is good.... Causa is pretty good, but when we got the saltado burrito... Holy s&$@!!!! Lol.... And the pollo la brasa wasn't a disappointment at all..... Its 7pm and Im already starving. After picking up the lady and having to drive from Burbank to Van Nuys to run an errand there is no way Im making it back home to Burbank before passing out. So I have a few choices. Eat fast food, try out a spot in Van Nuys or risk crashing on my way home. Ill go with option 2 and what do you know...there is a little restaurant that's claiming to have Pollo a la Brasa. Well, I love Pollo a la Brasa on Western so maybe this spot is good too. Look it up real quick on Yelp and notice that it has 4 and a half stars. Not bad Takatis! Me and the lady tried the Burrito Saltado, Ceviche, 1/4 chicken and some fries. The burrito was unique. It almost tasted like a Kung Pao Beef burrito. That might not sound delicious but it is! Think of it as a healthier tasting burrito instead of a all out gut bomb. The ceviche was comparable to most Peruvian ceviches. It was about as good as Natalie's but not as good as Mo-chica but solid and a good portion of fish. The chicken was the star of the show. Great pollo a la brasa! Good rub on the chicken and a nice smoke taste. The fries were also great. They are bigger then most and feel like they are freshly cut with a little skin left on. The food was great and our servers were very helpful but with most Peruvian places I need those sauces that they serve with the meal to be on point and Takatis did not disappoint. The Aji Amarillo (yellow), Aji Verde (green) and Aji Rojo (red) were all on point. I drench my food and rice with the yellow...ad the green for a bit more flavor and a little of the red for the heat. Once all the flavors mix you have a concoctions that Im salivating over right now just thinking about. Enjoy!

I went in thinking I was going to get the sanguchon but it was a bad day because they told me they didn't have the chicken to make it with. This would have easily gotten a 5 star if it wasn't for this. RESPONSIBILITY. I instead got the Jalea con Mariscos and I wasn't disappointed. I honestly thought I was in Peru eating this because I went to this great Peruvian restaurant IN Peru and had a Jalea there too and they tasted similar. So when it comes to authenticity they definitely won me over. They had three different aji sauces. They all had the right amount of spiciness to them and made my Jalea.. THEE JALEA. Best fried plantains that I've tried. They're not dry but they're also not to oily and soggy. It was fried with perfect timing. My dad got a Lomo Saltado. I tried a bit and even though the meat was a bit hard (not too much) the actual flavoring was great. I recommend it. Also my dad called it "The best lomo saltado in the Valley." They should have a banner of that quote outside their restaurant. Overall, I will be coming back and this time to get my sanguchon! and maybe a Burrito Saltado because it's the best of both food worlds and a dream come true.

Who says there is nothing good in Van Nuys? Van Nuys gets a bad rap. Well maybe it is deserving of some of its negative publicity, but look and ye shall find greatness. After a long list of horrible meals, today finally was met with a great one. Right in the heart of Van Nuys is Takatis. Takatis is 2 1/2 years new and my guess is will soon explode to be franchised around the state. Great chicken, great sauces, great ceviche, great beans (and I hate beans). All in all my experience was a good one. The service is still a bit weak but that will not stop me / us from dining there again. My office mates and myself are already planning our next meal there (tomorrow) and what we will be ordering. You are welcome.

For the price it was good but there are better Pollo a la barasa for the same price in ktown and torrance. Check out my review of Western Pollo a la Brasa. Chicken done over real fire and not on a machine. Anyhow back to this place. Large amount of food. Had it with the rice and fries (okay). Liked the chica morada more. Anyhow, like I mentioned, good for the area but wouldn't go out of my way.

The seasoning on their chicken is flat out amazing. My wife had that and she reluctantly let me taste some. I had this steak burrito thing that was crazy good too. The place is really clean too. Something you don't really expect as you look at the location from the street. Just get in there and order that chicken with some sides... or really anything on the menu. You won't be sorry!!

I wanted to eat the whole menu, but decided to celebrate my birthday today with Lomo saltado, it was deeeelicious. Tried Peruvian tamales for the first time, and they were ok (the best tamales are made in Venezuela). The chicha morada was very refreshing and light. For dessert I had Leche asada and it tasted like creme brulee. I was very happy with this food, it wasn't cheap, but it was yummy.

I can only review one entree - the chicken. And I agree with every other yelper on here, it is really THAT good. Very moist, flavorful and piping hot. I got mine with a side salad & cassava. I should have just asked for extra chicken. The sides were fine, mind you, but they paled in comparison. The place is a very clean hole-in-the-wall. Service is excellent and always with a smile. Someday, I'll try the sandwich, but only because it has THAT chicken in it.

The service was horrible. I came in, cause I ordered 2 plates of lomo Saltado and they have me one plate and charged me almost 20$! I called them back and said they messed up my order and that I wanted a refund, the lady on the phone was very rude and said that I couldn't return the food.

Incredible food. Quick service. Great value. What more could you want? The sanguchon is a two-handed hangover cure from heaven. The pollo saltado and a can of Inca Kola is a great lunch if you're on jury duty at the nearby courthouse. If your taste runs on the spicy side, the homemade sauces can kick up your dish. They also have a menu with color photos if the Spanish menu throws you for a loop. ;)

Oh wow. So I'm no expert on Peruvian cuisine but I LOVE this place. Great menu, healthy options available, the the sauces on the table are to die for. Staff is always super friendly. I've eaten there most times but it's also great for take out. I've never had Inca cola before but one of the guys there recommended it to me and now I get it every time.

This restaurant is way overrated. We came in today based on the reviews of fellow yelpers and was very disappointed. The chicken that the restaurant was known for was cold when served to us and very salty. However, the side is yucca was a pleasant surprise. On the other hand, The lomo saltado was the true disappointment. The meat was extremely dry and thinly cut. The dish was overpowered by the fries and barely any other ingredients to balance it off. With the rice, it was primarily a meal of starch. While the sauce is tasty, for a $13 dish, it was very overpriced. I've had the same dish at other Peruvian restaurants for the same price and it was a lot better If rating the service alone this place gets a 4 But rating based on the food and price

Not once or twice but several times I was overcharged just to hear the phony "I am sorry"...this people never take the right order and serve what you didn't ask for...they're always looking to rip you off...BE AWARE. The chicken is average and the other food below average. Regretful experience. Won't come back.

I stopped in after reading the positive Yelp reviews. I ordered the 1/2 chicken with fries and beans and a maracuyá beverage to drink. Any place that has anything with maracuyá (passion fruit) in it is automatically in my good graces, so I was already enjoying my dinner before my food even arrived. When it did arrive, the night only got better. The chicken exceeded all expectations. It is so perfectly seasoned, tender, and juicy. It is cooked over a wood fire, which gives it a beautiful smokiness. This goes down as some of the best chicken I have ever had. The fries were made fresh not frozen. The beans were frijoles peruanos, not surprisingly, and were tasty. Service was friendly. My only concern is that since eating there earlier tonight, my face has been feeling very warm, which is normally my body's reaction to MSG.

Saw this place on yelp and had to try it. I'll be back the chicken was the best the burrito was the truth.

I lust for the chicken here. It's a small mini-mall type place (which makes it cheap), but the chicken is so good, especially with the sauces. 5 stars for taste and value. I only wish I had to drive out to city hall more often so I could eat here.

  • Jonathan L.

I've only had the roast chicken but it's very good. Great sauces. The whole chicken for $12 is reasonable, but adding two sides bumps it up to $19. Still a nice dinner for two.

  • Arturo N.

What else can I say about this place other than the chicken here is amazing! It's definitely some good stuff, very juicy and tender, and the sauces they give you...wow, they are really something. The actual restaurant itself inside is very small (think there's only 5 tables) but I usually just get it for takeout anyways. The only minor complaint I have is that there are no tortillas, but that can hardly be used against them, its just how I'm used to eating chicken.

At about the second bite of my Sanguchon I realized that I was probably having the best sandwich of my life, it would not get any better than that. As exhilarating a moment as it was it also filled me with a vast sadness. What could equal Takatis's Sanguchon?. Even if I had another one... say tomorrow would it be the same as that one was at that moment ? Anyway it was good. Epic good. So why 4 stars ? The service is sweet and the people are nice, but there is a big time lag between your order and when you get your food that's hard to explain in any way other than a dysfunctional understaffed kitchen. It's totally bearable but takes the shine off the place.

  • Bonobo M.

The quarter/half chicken dinner is where this place shines. The chickens are smoked with wood in a great looking smoker and you can taste it with every bite. Despite what the review reads, I found the sandwich to be mediocre. A gut bomb without any unique favors.

Thought I needed to go all the way to crazy hectic, no-parking Hollywood/LA for delicious lomo saltado at Mario's. Who knew there was a place just a few miles away that offered something just as good (okay maybe just sliiiiiiightly under the taste of Mario's, but really, very very slight). SO good. We also ordered the pollo a la brasa with beans and fries. fries = omg delicious. beans = yummy delicious (omg delicious is slightly more delicious than yummy delicious). and service was great - the server was super kind and helpful and checked up on us throughout the meal (to refill water or clear our tables of used napkins). i'm SO glad we had an excuse to try this place after taking the van nuys flyaway.

This was a random place i chose today. I'm a big fan of Peruvian food and I really enjoyed the Burrito Saltado. This also comes in a plate but since I was quick to have something to eat I went with the burrito. There's steak, tomatoes, and papa fritas in the burrito. The way the steak had the char flavor on it was amazing. Not that many restaurants know how to do that. The burrito also came with papa fritas and it absorbs all the flavors. The service in this place was good the waiter asked how my meal was and if I needed more water he would always keep my cup filled which is a plus for me. My only complaint about this place is how hot the inside of the restaurant was.

    (4)
  • Jins H.

I want to give three and a half. I had the lomo Saltado and it was pretty good except the beef was a tad bit dry. Wait staff was very nice and accommodating. Would give them a 5! The lack of five stars comes from the fact that its really hole in the wall; it was extremely hot in there over 100 degree weather, and I think the air conditioning was broken. Wires or chords were falling off the walls and the food was pretty pricey considering the ambiance. We paid $80 for four people to eat. Nevertheless, overall would recommend.

  • Gus A.

Food was greasy and tiny portions. Restaurant is small and cheap, but prices are from a fancy restaurant! Too expensive. I was in several peruvian restaurants before and for that price I can get better service and food. For sure! I won't recommend it.

  • Greg P.

EXCELLENT! It is a kind of hol-in-the-wall type place, so I initially had my doubts. After sitting, it seemed like a family-owned/run restaurant. I am not Peruvian and anything outside of pizza and burgers is tough for me to try. So I got the closest thing to a burger. I ordered the Sanguchon and it was INCREDIBLE!!!! So so so so so good! My wife got the Lomo Saltado. She loved it. I loved it. Needless to say, we'll be back with more friends. BTW: what made it more affordable was using a restaurant.com certificate. The whole meal ended up being $7 for two people.

Ok I've had a lot of great peruvian food both in LA and Miami and must say that this is HANDS DOWN the best ever! We ordered lomo salteado, sanguchon and papas a la huancaina. The lomo (skirt steak) was super tender, juicy and mega tasty. And the papas a la huancaina were spicier than expected but that didn't matter cause I went totally crazy for them. So damn good! The sanguchon did not disappoint either: chicken, egg, fries and a super yummy sauce all happily living under a warm bun. Filling and beyond delicious. The food tastes homemade and the service was so warm that we felt like we were having dinner at a friend's house. Will be coming back again and again for sure! Loved the menu too. Its nice that they went the extra mile to design something simple and cool looking, which is rare for a small establishment like this. The ambiance is laid back but with an extra hip touch, without the hip prices. This place is a hidden GEM in LA.

Tried it, and went back later on this week. Food is simple and delicious. The 1/4 chicken with 2 sides is 6 dollars. Skip El Pollo Loco one night and come here lol. The burrito is alright, and the Tacu Tacu has been eaten twice, very good. They do have a little parking lot and the woman who I am sure is the owner is very nice. No real spicy sauce here, so if you really want spice it's not here. 4 out of 5 stop reading and go.

  • Shayna G.

The lomo saltado and tamale were good but by far the best fried yucca I've ever had and the chicken sandwich (sanguchon) was amazing. Ended the meal with picarones that were just like the ones I had in Peru. Love this place.

Get their Sanguchon... one of the best Peruvian chicken sandwiches I've ever had! Very moist, flavorful, and delicious.

The gracious couple that took care of me here have my undying long distance devotion. I was a lone traveler from Kentucky but we didn't talk bout that. They just welcomed me like I was in their kitchen. And I was! I must've looked lost because she offered me tastes of their fresh beverages - passion fruit juice and the red one they make daily (yes I forgot again what's in it). I gave her my diet coke can unopened to return to the fridge. I will not forget the Ceviche I had ! The approval on my face was clear to them. They enjoy sharing the love in their food with others. I'm glad I spent time in their kitchen. If you live there, you're a lucky SOB. Go give them your money and you can feel the love.

It was lunch. I took Yelp's advice. I went to the local hot spot thinking it would take forever. In about ten minutes I was feasting on the best chicken sandwich in town next to Billy's Grill. I had never had purple corn tea before, or Peruvian chicken, yummmmmmmmm. These ladies work hard. And their food tastes like it:) Thanks Yelpers!!!

So even though I gave it one star I want to like this place. The one star is because the two times I've been there they have been out of chicken. What have i ordered since the Chicken restaurant has been out? Good question and that explains the two stars. First time I ordered their special chicken sandwich with the yams and french fries in the sandwich. It was very tasty BUT had NO friggin chicken! Second time I ordered the Saltado Burrito and when it came to the table I just stared at it in shock. ONE tiny, skinny, Steak-ums looking dried up piece of meat? The employees are great, service is great, I've heard the chicken is great BUT their menu doesn't match the food! I'm going to go back and eventually try the chicken the food I have had even though it was misrepresented was very tasty. BUT don't sell me a steak or chicken sandwich and then not put steak or chicken ON the sandwich. That just isn't cool.

The camaron saltados were good, the presentation was beautiful but what I find to be key to this plate is the green sauce. Their green sauce wasn't even spicy or tasty.

I don't often go to the valley, so I don't know what's good out there. Yelp steered me here for a quick snack, and I thought I'd go for it. Now, after my rusty Spanish skills caused me to mistranslate something, I settled on the Sanguchon. There were a few things I was iffy on, so I asked them to not put them on the sandwich. Normally when I do things like that, i realize I've already compromised the balance of the sandwich, but in this instance, I was quite surprised it was just as flavorful and tasty as if the things were there. I might even leave them on next time. And I will be looking for a comparable experience next time I'm in the area...

The best food of the weekend, by FAR. The sandwich (sanguchon) has absolutely wonderfully marinated chicken, almost like a Shawarma sandwich, full of spices and herbs that made my mouth water. I had a great time putting the three different sauces on, and I think the Aji Amarillo was the tastiest - and spiciest, wow! It went beautifully with the seasonings and fresh bread. The Causa Rellena was very different than expected, served cold with the taste and texture of a potato salad, but it was still tasty and herby. The same well-seasoned chicken was inside, but the potato did overwhelm the dish a bit. The tamale was rich, tasty, and again full of the chicken. (We didn't try any red meat dishes this time.) They gave us samples of their home made sweet drinks, which were tasty, but ultimately we passed. For other drinks, they give you a can or bottle, and food comes out in a basket, so don't expect the best presentation. For such a small place it was remarkably comfortable and everyone there wanted our first foray into Peruvian to be a great one. I can't wait to go back for the ceviche!

  • Allen G.

After hearing about how delicious this Peruvian restaurant was I decided to make the drive and experience it first hand. The chicken was perfect and thought I couldn't be happier, that is until I tried the lomo saltado my friend ordered! I thought Mario's was doing it right, no I was wrong. Takatis is. Perfectly cooked and season beef, alongside the well textured and tasting rice. Yum.

I was extremely impressed about every aspect of this little restaurant. The service was great, the pictures on the menu were appetizing, and the food was delicious, of course. Me and the bf ordered the pollo a la brasa, steak burrito, fried fish fillet, and tacu tacu (fried beans and rice with steak strips). No.... the two of us did not finish all of that but we def could have if we wanted to hate ourselves for the rest of the night. Each dish was distinctively flavorful. They actually cook their chicken in a wood fired oven that you can see from the dining area. Can't wait for the leftovers!

  • Ruby R.

I went here last week and had the sanguchon. I washed it down with a drink I can't recall the name of (it was purple and tasted similar to jamaica), and ordered a tamale to go. The food wasn't mindblowing but good enough that I would stop by for lunch if I ever happened to be in the area. There are definitely a few other items on the menu I'm interested in tasting...

I grew up eating homemade Peruvian food everyday. I love that this place is authentic and you get a lot of food. They even have Peruvian ice cream! Even though they have a saltado burrito (very un-Peruvian), it's California, everything here is in a burrito style. So I'll let it slide ;)

Great food here! Yummy green sauce. but---- bad location ( extremely ghetto) and bad service! Every time we would add to our order the lady would look at us stupid! WTF?!!?? It's seems like she gets mad when we order a lot of food. They have the best fried bananas. It was super sweet and delish! Oh, and their fries.........couldn't have been any more fresh! Would like to come here more often, but the service makes me skeptical! :(

Alright muchachos listen up.This place is amazing. Come. Taste. Love. I was running errands in the neighborhood and was starving so I stumbled into this place. Lucky me. As I was walking in, I saw one of the workers open up the woodfire rotisserie which is in plain sight to load in a rack of chicken. Those things looked so good I damn near fainted. So, I decide to order a half chicken with a few sides. Plantains and yucca fries it is. After I had my first bite a few minutes later, I just about inhaled the whole plate. I felt like Will Ferrel in Old School when he has that first beer at the party and yells "Once it hits your lips, it's so good!" The chicken is amazing, and the sides are great too. They have a few sauces on the table which are also really good as well. I have no idea what they are, but they're good. I've been back a few times and each time it's been as good as that first time. I had this other thing that resembled a burrito, but better ( forgot what it was called) and it was also tasty. Their other plates look amazing as well but I can't help but ordering the chicken over and over again. Oh yeah, they have these little desserts which are awesome too. The owners really should open up another location on Ventura Blvd. They would kill!

I went back again this time I have the 1/4 chicken combo I believe it was and its still just as I had it the first time. The potato salad yummm . I just really wanted to talk about the Maracuja drink I had. It was really good it this yellow juice that tastes like guava and pineapple juice together. I think I can drink that all day long.. Yummm

I wanted to get the sandwich (forgot what it's called), but they were all out. So, I ordered the burrito. That sloppy thang fell apart in my hands, but it was so good. Ceviche was also excellent. The wait for your food is long, so don't be too hungry when you go!

I've never had Peruvian food before, but Takatis was certainly a good start. The menu was full of great-looking/sounding items such as beef heart skewers, whole rotisserie chicken, a potato relleno, and some rice dishes. My boyfriend and I settled for the burrito and the fried calamari and both dishes were super delicious. The sauces they provided were full of interesting spices and were flavors I had never tasted before. I would definitely suggest this restaurant if you, like me, are looking into your first foray into the world of Peruvian food! Just a note: there is another Peruvian food place across the street called Machu Piccu that did not show up when I yelped Peruvian food.

So good! Just went here for the first time! Thanks Yelp. Ordered the Sanguchon - probably the best sandwich I've had in years. Seriously! The blend of flavors was incredible and the chicken was so juicy. We also got the lomo saltado and were kind of disappointed by it. Not a ton of flavor and the steak was a bit tough. But, the sandwich was so good it totally makes up for it! I'd go back in a second just for that.

California Chicken Cafe, fuggedaboutit. Zankou Chicken, fuggedaboutit. Viva Takatis! I got a 1/2 pollo ala brasa with side salad + fries and have to say this is bar none the best chicken in the valley. We're talking wood-fired rotisserie with Peruvian seasoning and excellent tableside sauce selection. I was expecting to pay around $10 to 12, but was pleasantly surprised it came in just under that. The other stuff on the menu looked just as good and I'm planning on trying it all at one point or another. Gret place to go with friends on a lazy weekend afternoon or to grab a solid lunch before heading back to the grind. Unlike other chicken places, I didn't get hit with an upset stomach 2 hours later or walk outta there with my breath smelling like a weapon-of-mass-destruction either.

See that storefront photo of the sandwich right there? Yeah, I had that. And I'm so very happy that I had that. Full of all kinds of goodies and sauce-ums (not to mention all of the amazing extra sauce-ums they bring out to the table if you want to try them). I also had their homemade fruit drink, definitely has a unique taste but I'm really glad I tried it. Their service was superb. The two men who were serving everyone were just wonderful and always attentive. We were one of the only ones in there at first, but after a little bit people kept coming in, and I can see why. There's so much more that I'd like to try at this place! For now I can only go off of the one delicious meal that I had.

Waitress was terrible. she said she had 4 sauce. i told her i wanted to try them. she brought 2. i asked for the other 2. she said the 4th bottle was ketchup. WTF! had to buy bread. lomo saltado was a disappointment. rib eye sounded delish but no flavor! soggy olf fries. green sauce...mehhhhhhhhh. not coming back.

Short review: If only I could duplicate these spices at home!! The chicken is perfectly juicy, well-seasoned -- cooked to perfection. 1/2 Chicken is about $9.00 with two sides. Will come back again, for sure!

Best hand-cut french fries in Los Angeles. I know that you probably wouldn't go to a Peruvian restaurant for french fries, but I have to say that I love french fries and was pleasantly surprized not only that they were handcut, but also so go...very pleasant surprise. The rest of the food was excellent as well, me and a co-worker split the chicken and the lomo burrito. They were both outstanding. This place isn't fancy....basically one step above fast food decor-wise...but the food is definitely worth going...and the prices are extremely good.

This place is a good as it gets! I'm 1/2 Peruvian, 1/2 Russian. Peruvain food definately is better than Russian. With tht said, you MUST try this place! It's our new yummy Peruvain place around the corner. ok not so around the corner, but the closest around. We go to NAZCA too, but this place is a couple notches better. My Mom had the tamal, and she said it was amazing, very authenic! Now if a 75 year old puro Peruana is saying that, then you know it's place worth eating at. I don't write a lot of reviews 'cause i hate spell checking, but help support you local restaurants, and dine at these places. It helps our community immensely.

I've been there a few times hoping the service would get better at some point. It only gets worse. I'm always treated rudely and impolitely. The food is great, I highly recommend if you can stand the service (or lack there of)

I don't know what these yelp reviewers are saying but customer service was great! While we waited, the waiter gave us shots of their drinks. I wish I remembered their names but they were very delicious. The waiter came to our table multiple times to check on us. He was really nice! We tried choros a la chalaca which is a plate of 6 mussels marinated in onions, tomatoes and corn. So good! They have my favorite lomo saltado. Beef is a good size and tender mmm I can't wait to come back again! Although the neighborhood is ghetto van nuys, I don't mind coming. The food is THAT good. The restaurant is small though but cute and quaint.

I like Lola's Chicken more but my bf likes this place. yelp.com/review_share/9D… Location/Parking: Easy enough to find but the parking lot is small. Do not park in the areas sectioned off for other businesses. As soon as I pulled into a "wrong parking spot" I was confronted even though I was just picking up an order. =( Seating/Wait: Usually no wait. Plenty of chairs though you'll see a lot of people come here to eat in groups. Service: Their service is ok. Some of the guys are real friendly and patient. Some of the people (and the female there) gives you an attitude. I like their photo menu because it sells real well - who doesn't like to look at pictures of delicious food they can smell from the kitchen? You just need to figure out what you want and order at the cashier. Food: -Chicken is a must because that's what they are known for although in my opinion, the few times I've had this place, the chicken is bland and dry. You'll really need to make use of the sauces they have. -Yucca fries: I adore yucca anything. I did notice a small refrigerator by the entrance that has these things packaged. So...does anyone know which super market I can buy these from? -Platano fritos: When it comes to fried bananas, there are the mushy sweet types and the fried salted or sugared types. I like the mushy sweet ones and that's what they have here although I'd like it softer and sweeter... -Fried yam chips: pretty good but that's easy to make. -Loma saltado: not impressed. NOT impressed. Very bland. -Rice: their rice is pretty good. I like to dunk all my sauces into my rice and eat it with my chicken. Then get my own tortilla wraps for it =D *They do not double up on sides. I asked for double yucca fries on the phone for a take out. I got my order and left before I counted the yucca fries. After asking the person who gave me the order, they said they didn't give double orders Décor/ Ambience: Very cute trendy look. We're talking about the cafe chalkboard menu and the word wall they have. The grill can be seen if you want to see them put chicken in the grill. Dogs: No outdoor seating.

We ordered a bunch of food... lets start with the chicken. Overall, it was ok... I was excepting fireworks or something with all the great reviews! But there was nothing THAT special about it. It had a nice pepperiness to it. It came loaded with thick cut fries. The beef dish was also a 4/5... when I saw vinegar listed, i was also expecting a tangy flavor, but it pretty mellow. It actually reminds me of chinese food! Also, seating is limited!

Very tasty Peruvian food. I loved the arroz chaufa and the fried yucca. They have all kinds of delicious Peruvian ice creams including Lucuma which cannot be found anywhere else. They also have 3 different aji sauces that I love to dip my yucca and chicken in. Everyone left feeling full and very satisfied with the meal. It was fresh, clean and fast :)

Been here several times. Everything is good! Great value for your money. The signature is their wood fired rotisserie chicken which is excellent. I've also had their Lomo Saltado burrito, which is a great new twist on a classic peruvian favorite. 3 amazing table sauces worth trying and the plantains and yuca fries are also very good. There's 2 homemade fruit drinks that are very tasty as well. This place is extremely clean and the staff is super friendly. I will be going back often!

I don't remember exactly what I ordered but I remember I LOVED what I ate and the other three people in our company also loved their meals. The price was not too bad either. Thus I grant this place 5 stars, but for more details see other people's reviews.

If you haven't had Peruvian food then you are missing out. Was trying to find this place I'd been to before and was having trouble tracking them down when I stumbled across this place. Decided to make the trek over the Van Nuys in hopes of finding a hidden gem. Well, I must say I was definitely not disappointed. So goood. If you are craving some amazing peruvian food then look no further.

First time I came in here I was over the moon - the chicken + egg + fried potato sandwich (sorry forgot name) was a revelation, but the second and third time were both well off that high mark and I am not able to recommend it as highly as I did - The environment is loud with the TV and beeping door is maddening - I'll worth thru the menu a bit more though at the place is spunky and friendly and I'd love for it succeed rather then lose business to El Pollo Loco next door.

damn good peruvian chicken...marinated overnight and wood-fire grilled. juicy and full of flavor. their sign reads best chicken in the valley and that could possibly be true (i'm still a big zankou fan but they are completely different chickens). environment is very clean, small, homey, hole in the wall which i love and our server was so polite. food + service = fantastic Order: - 1/2 chicken + 2 sides (chose the fried plantains and rice) - lomo saltado - maracuya beverage (passionfruit juice) not only was the chicken great, but so was the lomo saltado!...and we've tried our shares of lomos and this one is definitely a winner. their sauces were good as well. also, give one of their juices a try...they'll let you sample both flavors. fyi we waited 20 minutes for the chicken to be done hence the one star off but it was worth the wait. i will be back.

Really enjoyed the food here. The papas a la huancaina were pretty good. I asked the server if the portion was enough to share and she said its only enough for one person so we ordered two. when the order came it was actually quite a huge portion and plenty to share. Good thing we were hungry and were able to finish both. I got the pollo a la brasa combo which was delicious. The chicken was very moist and perfectly seasoned. The portion was a bit small but I didn't really mind. The salad was whatever but the fries were good. The rest of my party got the lomo and chicken saltado and they liked it. We also got a sandwich that was amazing. I forgot what it was called but the bread was delicious and it had egg, fries, meat....pretty much a bit of everything. The reason for no fifth star is the service was pretty crappy. The server never came to check on us or fill our drinks or bring our bill until we flagged her down. The place is also very small and the AC is blasting which makes is too cold.

We ordered the sanguchon, a super delicious chicken sandwich, tacu-tacu and pollo a la brasa. I didnt realize the portions were going to be pretty large. We had to ask for to-go boxes! Everything was flavorful. Our waiter was very helpful when ordering. We are sure to return!

This is a hole in the wall, but I liked it. The food is very tasty and generous. There are several Peruvian restaurants in the area, but to me the only one worth stopping at.

The sandwich was so good with the fried egg, and all the added sauces made it that much better.

Everything I've tried so far has been amazing! The causa rellena (not even sure what this is exactly, some sort of mashed potato type thing with pickled onions) was delicious and unusual. Sanguchon is a huge sandwich filled with so many things I don't even know where to start (chicken, sweet potato, fries, scrambled egg, etc). Papa a la huacaina (sliced boiled potatoes in a mildly spicy cheesy hollandaise-like sauce) is amazing. Mussels (topped with onion and corn kernels) are bomb. Pollo a la brasa of course is their specialty. Aguadito (a cilantro soup) is good on a cold rainy day but they could put a little more goodies in there. Beef skewers were perfectly seasoned and tender (I ordered them rare and they were cooked just right). For sides I love their platanos fritos (fried plantains) and have never had better. My boyfiend likes yucca and said their fried yucca was good too (I don't like yucca). Also, dip everything in their special sauces!

IM HOOKED!!!!! This place was amazing. Through a weird chain of events involving all the places my buddy and I wanting to eat at, not working out, we ended up here. SO THANKFUL FOR THAT! The food is AMAZING! DO NOT listen to the haters rating this place, its AWESOME! We tried a number of different dishes and all of them were amazing. The lomo saltado was incredible, especially when you use the three sauces they give with it. I cannot wait to go back, and actually I might just head out there right now after writing this review! Does not disappoint!!!

Absolutely delicious! My favorite Peruvian restaurant. I've eaten here over 5 times already, and it has been consistently great! The pollo a la brasa (cooked in a special oven they imported from Peru) is the best I've had. I also love the lomo saltado, the yucca fries, the fried plantains (the best I've had!), and their two home made fruit drinks.

Ordered chicken and it tasted good however I didn't realize that I ordered a whole chicken until I got back to work. No wonder my order was $37. Lomo saltado tasted good. Fries were good. Take out was packed in Styrofoam container so the fries were soggy by the time I got to work was really the only complaint. White beans with rice tasted very good.

OMG, their causa is DELICIOUS!! Seriously! I went to this place the other day and I was surprised how delicious the food was. I had their lomo saltado and it was amazingly tasty. The food portions are good for one person, maybe two, depends how hungry you are. The prices are reasonable and the place is very laid back. I absolutely recommend this place!

Ate here for second time today, and yes, it's not a fluke, this food is incredibly good. Had the sandwich again, the burrito, and the ceviche....all delicious. Burrito and sandwich are only $6, which is a steal for food this quality. Takatis has earned a regular lunch spot.

I went with a large group for lunch. Most of us ordered the lunch special. You get a 1/4 chicken grilled over wood with 2 sides for 3.99. The chicken was delicious and the service was friendly. I'd go back for sure!

  • Y A.

Their Arroz Chaufa (fried rice) with chicken was served in a large portion and was cooked very well with super tender chicken peices. The Chicha drink was alright but the one thing that got to me was their Aji verde (green chili sauce) was not spicy!

OK I am so mad i have to give this place 2 stars because the food IS pretty good. But the TERRIBLE SERVICE overshadows the taste of any meal. I went in on saturday to get a to-go order of Lomo Saltado. I have had it once before and the young man that was working the restaurant and the register was attentive, polite, and on point. So i thought it was a good place to return to. This time there was an older lady who made ZERO eye contact with me and stood at the register a few times looking around for things to do ...other than take my order. A younger waitress came out of the kitchen and walked by me several times, after about 5 minutes she finally acknowledged my existence and decided to take my order. Fast forward 45 minutes later one other to-go order that came in 20 minutes after me and 9 people that walked out for lack of service...i still did not have my food. The waitress walked over to my boyfriend and began asking him who came first me or the other woman who was there 20 minutes after. That woman got her TWO orders before me, and so did all of the tables that were seated after i ordered. The waitresses made NOT ONE apology. In fact they made more excuses than anything. Most places would offer you a drink or possibly a coupon...but at least a SORRY. Never going back. That was by far the WORST service i have ever had. And judging by the 9 (yes i counted them) people that left in the 57 minutes while i was there...they probably wont be returning either.

Polite service but unfortunately waited very long for our food. Food was decent. Tallarin saltado was very good. Didn't get to try pollo a la brasa but my wife said it was good. The menu was missing a few favorites of mine like conchas negras which you can get at Bonano's which is at the moment my favorite Peruvian restaurant.

First of all, I'm Peruvian and grew up on that good Peruvian food that mom always had cooking in the kitchen at lighting speed. If you have a Peruvian mom, you know they can make a full blown meal in minutes lol. Anyways, this place is really gooood. I haven't gotten a chance to try everything yet but I got the Lomo saltado and the meat was super tasty. My boyfriend got the lomo saltado burrito and he was loving it, so I'm sure it was great. We also got the papa la huancallina....SO BOMB! It had the perfect flavor. But I did want more egg and olives, so ask them for extra if you love them. Anyways, I'll be back.

First of all, the AC does not work. Minus one star. My boyfriend was craving some Peruvian food and after one yelp search we found this highly rated Peruvian restaurant. First impression, small, well maintained, and high prices. Food took about 20-25 minutes to arrive, but you could tell it was made from scratch. Flavor was great. I ordered papa rellena and my boyfriend got the most famous Peruvian dish, the lomo saltado. He said it had great flavor, as he has tried many from several different places. We were please that they accepted credit cards, but for some reason the machine was lagging very much causing the old man that was charging us to get irritated. As he handed me the bill he said something I didn't understand at first, then he repeated himself saying fill the "total and Tip section" with a "if you're not gonna leave any tip just leave it at zero" remark. Found that a bit awkward having to tip him while he was staring at me. Just hoped there was a better way of paying but oh well. Great food.

They were busy tonight but the young lady reassured us that we'll get seated right away. She even told us that we can order right away and we did, and right when we got seated our order was on our table already. I'm really impressed with the customer service. And the food is so amazing! It's so delicious. BUT the only downside is the Public Health Grade is "B"

The chicken is pretty good. However, the seating and service need much improvement. I am currently in the back of the restaurant with my friend unable to leave because many people have arrived and have obstructed put way out. The hostess has not checked up on us since our food had arrived. I have been waiting for the past 20 minutes to order something, but honestly I'm reconsidering my decision. Unfortunately, I can't even leave to pay. I have tried to get her attention, but she hasn't even looked in my direction.

Quite possibly the best Peruvian food in the valley. The steak was flavorful and delicious. The pesto pasta is a must have! The service was amazing! Our waitress was very friendly, attentive and personable. A true Peruvian cuisine gem that is mandatory on any foodie's must do list.

Peruvian craving satisfied! I found this place on Yelp and decided to come here for my Peruvian fix. BF and I came in on a Sunday afternoon around 3:00. The place was pretty empty only 1 other person waiting for his take out order. When we walked in there was no one there to greet us or sit us down, so we sat ourselves. The place is small, hole in the wall type of location, which I don't mind at all. Then an older gentleman came to take our drink order. I already knew I wanted to try their specialty drinks "chichi morada". However, they also had a yellow/orangey drink which we wanted to try as well. He offered us samples of both. They were both very good but I went with the purple drink. We also put it our food order. Here it goes: Lomo Saltado- Rib eye steak chopped in pieces, tomato, grilled onions, pepper over fries with a side of rice. It's not the healthiest choice on the menu but wow were all the calories worth it. The taste was amazing and the lomo was tender. I think what made it even better were the sauces they bring out. My favorite were the orange and green one. Burrito Saltado- Basically everything the lomo saltado plate has but wrapped in a flour tortilla for PERFECTION. I had about 2 bites of this burrito topped with the specialty sauces. It was delicious. Salchi Papa- Fries topped with weiners. I ordered these for my bf because I knew he would like them. He loved them. The service was ok. There was 3 workers; the cook, waiter and cashier. They were all equally nice. The restaurant was a bit hot in temperature but not a big deal. If you're looking for good Peruvian food at a great price them come dine here.

I was craving Marios Peruvian food but I was hungry and did not want to wait over an hour just to be seated. I found this place on yelp and came here instead. I ordered a Lomo Saltado and a passion drink. The lomo was delicious but their green sauce lacked some spiciness. But other than that it was all cooked to perfection, the meat was tender and the potatoes were crispy. The place is pretty small and their specialty is wood fired chicken. I wish I would have tried it but next time I will make sure to order chicken. Inside it was really hot due to the the wood fired oven I really wish they turned the AC up. Im defiantly coming here again its a great alternative to Mario's.

Hole in a wall kind of place!! And so glad for Yelp to have found that treasure!! The place is really small and very south america like with basic furniture, soccer on TV and slow service :) I have been there twice and the food is still amazing! They have fresh juice, home made dressing from mild to spicy and to die meat including rotisserie chicken. I absolutely love this place!

Everytime i go to a Peruvian restaurant for me its very difficult cuz obviously me as Peruvian i look for very authentic flavor . Its true sometimes they are not the friendly but in this case im not coming for their service im coming for their chicken and some other dishes, today service was good. I always order their chicken with french fries which are fresh cut and their fried sweet potatoe as well which are also fresh cut . My husband orders all the time their famous Sanguchon which has chicken, lettuce, sweet potato, egg and cheese topped off with papitas al hilo and their house sauce . I have tried their causa rellena and its delicious you could tell its very fresh . They have like 4 types of hot sauces and their mayo they also make it. We will always come back if we are in the area great chicken and great food.

I come here 3 times per week. Today was my last... I came in, sat at the table and waited for the waitress to take my order... There are to guys placing an order by the register... When they are done ordering, the lady yells from the cash register... "Excuse me sir.. Are u eating here or to go???" "Here" i said... then she says... "I need that table for another customer..." Im just speechless.. There are no reservations... No people waiting and there is another table open... Then she adds... "Please Move"... Immediately she sees another table open and says.. "Actually you can stay..." What if there wasn't another table open... She would've kicked me out???? Never coming here again...

******600th Review*****woot woot****** I was craving Peruvian food...Pollo Saltado to be exact and while searching Yelp for eateries nearby I happened upon Takatis Peruvian Chicken Pollo a la Brasa. This place is minutes from my house so I decided to check it out. 1. The menu here is pretty eclectic. They even had Lomo Burritos which sounds like heaven except I don't eat steak. 2. They are pretty "pricey" if you are looking for dinner under $10. But the Pollo Saltado was about $12.99 plus tax which is pretty standard for this dish. 3. They had take-out so YAY! But they also have a cute little eating area so I will be back to dine in. 4. Its fast food without the speed. I suggest calling in and picking up if you have the chance. The wait was a little over 20 mins. I really enjoyed my Pollo Saltado (which is just a Peruvian version of chicken fried rice). It had the standard composition of chicken, onions , tomatoes, rice and fries. It was certainly tasty but not the best I've ever had. Great starter dish for those who never had Peruvian food. The portion size was decent, just enough to get me filled without having any leftovers. Overall yummy place to go! The food really put me to sleep tho. I am not sure if that's a good or bad thing but once I devoured it I knocked out like a baby .

I returned from a trip to Peru last month and was craving some ceviche and pollo a la brasa so I decided to try Takatis again. I ordered the Ceviche mixto (Shrimp, octopus, fish) and it was served very similarly to the ceviche in Peru. It had sweet potato, corn, and some roasted nuts. It wasn't as good as the ceviche in Peru, but it was still pretty good. It was similar in that it had the limey/citric flavor. I also ordered the pollo a la brasa, which was decent and fairly priced. I actually prefer pollo a la brasa Western in K-town better. However, if I don't feel like driving all the way to LA for pollo a la brasa, I'll be returning for it here.

I created this account for the sole purpose of warning people not to come here. I ordered their special "Lomo Saltado" later on that night I developed the worst stomach ache of my life! I believe I got food poisoning from this place, I had to be in bed the entire following day due to the pain, vomiting, dizziness etc. Save your money there are plenty of better Peruvian places with better staff and MUCH better food like "Mamitas" in Glendale ca.

Finally had the chance to try takatis and I must say it was quite good. Ordered the 1/4 pollo ala brasa with a side rice and french fries. The chicken was warm and full of flavor. The fries were nicely cooked. As was the rice. The only thing the rice was missing was a hint of garlic. But the sauces are what makes the meal even better. I honestly think the meal would be somewhat bland if it weren't for those sauces. They are delicious and spicy but not too spicy where you can't handle it. We also Ordered a pitcher of chicha morada which looks very similar to jamaica. This drink is so refreshing on a hot day. On a separate occasion I also tried the jalea de mariscos and the ceviche de pescado. WOW! Both of these are amazing and full of flavor. The ceviche was excellent. Don't forget the leche de Tigre. An aphrodisiac ;)

We split the burrito saltado and the half chicken with two sides. For the sides I tried the plantains and he tried the yucca. The burrito was pretty good. The steak in it was a little dry but still had great flavor. The chicken wasn't as great as everyone raves about. I thought it wasn't very juicy but the flavor on the skin was good. The best thing about this place were the sauces! The sauces they have here are SO good. I wanted to put them all in my purse and take them home :p. The green one was a little too salty for me but still tasted great. The yellow one was excellent and the orange was my favorite one!

Really bad experience I'm a long time costumer owner give me such a bad Attitude just for asking for extra sauce even do I offers to pay if it was not include in my order. I'll never comeback to these place and I don't recommended anyone to go there!

I had a lomo saltado and it was pretty good. I have had better but I'm not complaining about this one. It seems to be a family business and they were very friendly. The fact that it is opened until very late is great.

Really enjoy the food. Sanguchon is the most amazingly awesome sandwich I've ever had. Chicken is great and juicy. Sauce and all the fixins are incredible. My wife loves the pollo saltado. She craves it all the time. Make sure if you get take out you check your food before you leave. A couple slip ups in the past and make sure they give you ALL THE SAUCES to try. Grab a side of the fried yucca instead of french fries. A different taste and I'm not a huge fan of their fries.

DO NOT COME HERE WITH A GROUPON!! I have never been treated soo rudely in my life while using a Groupon. Ive been using Groupons for at least the last 4 years, and this has been the worst experience ever! Ive used groupons all over Glendale, Burbank, Pasadena, Alhambra, Silverlake and Los Feliz, well apearantly this low budget establishment in Van Nuys (across the street from a swampmeet) is not familiar with the concept of Groupon and will impose rules not included in the fine print in order not to honor the Groupon. First they said there was a restriction on the time it can be used, which was not listed anywhwere on the Groupon, only days were listed. I was told told I had to have a hard copy of the Groupon...another thing not mentioned when I purchased the deal. The server also has absolutely no concept of what customer service is since she kept rolling her eyes at me!! I was livid and ended up walking out. The food didnt even look appetizing. There was only 1 customer there and it looked like he was eating over soaked in soy sauce fried rice.

The food is amazing, I've tried different dishes and they are all excellent. You'll probably think it's not good because of the location or because of the lowkey establishment, but believe me, the food is really good.

Three words: Lomo Saltado Burrito. Admittedly this is the only item on the Takatis menu I have tried, but I seriously can not move past it. This is my favorite burrito in Los Angeles, and I say that having eaten too many burritos to mention. This burrito is basically the lomo saltado dish wrapped into a burrito. Tender, perfectly seasons chunks of steak, thick cut fries, rice and sautéed red onions are tenderly wrapped in a large flour tortilla. The result- Andrea's favorite burrito. *Personal story: in grad school- this was the one light at the end of the tunnel when I was writing my thesis. I am so loved that I actually had a loved one willing to drive from Van Nuys to Long Beach with this burrito to help fuel my all nighters. I am a lucky girl- I know. If you are in Van Nuys- stop in and try this one friends! Definitely worth the drive. Buen provecho!

Came back for Peruvian food and I am saddened to see that the quality of the once delicious tasting food has gone way down. I had the pollo saltado and it was just alright. Actually it was on the salty side, I almost couldn't finish it. The special sauces that were once good with everything felt not as fresh. I am saddened to say that I won't be coming back here and now have to start my search for a delicious and authentic Peruvian restaurant once again. The only reason I give them some starts are because the plantains were good (but then again those are hard to mess up seeing as they are fabulous by themselves). The other reason I keep some stars are because the maracuja juice was still yummy.

Came here with the kids after getting a groupon after a friend of ours recommended we try a Peruvian restaurant. We got the ceviche and the kids got what looked like a Peruvian burrito, and it was all very tasty. I'm not sure if I would come here often without a groupon as the food isn't cheap, but I'm glad we came either way.

Wow, this place is a hidden gem! Must try the Lomo Saltado burrito and half pollo la brasa. The fried banana and bean were delish too. I literally cleaned my plate. All 3 dipping sauces were perfect with the food. Loved how it wasn't super spicy like most Peruvian sauce. Will definitely be back to try other dishes.

I had dinner here on a Friday, I ordered the rotisserie chicken with rice and fires. I like the fact that this restaurant uses fresh potatoes for the fries. I was disappointed when I saw that the chicken had very obviously been reheated. Since it was reheated it got cold very quickly and was dry. My partner ordered the ceviche mixto and he loved it. I probably won't come here again given there a good number of Peruvian restaurants in the valley. If you go, steer clear of the chicken unless you see it roasting.

Found this little gem through YELP and the reviews were right! It was delish! I ordered the Lomo Saltado and calamari and both were super yummy and savory. I would definitely go back again and am telling my Peruvian bestie about this place!

Amazing chicken!. I used to live in this neighborhood. And back then Super Pollo was here. I guess they moved up the street. I'm glad I tried this place because it's even better than Super Pollo from what I remember. 3 different Ajis that were all superb. The best Peruvian Chicken I've ever had. Spiced just right. Juicy! And the server Nadia let me sample the desert called Pionono. It's a cake that was so delicious. And the fresh fruit punches Nadia let me sample we both really great. Can't wait to visit the old neighborhood again and come back to Takatis.

The food gets four stars but the reason I'm giving this place two stars is because of the service. I placed an order over the phone and once I paid my group and I were planning to eat at the restaurant but we were told that if you order over phone you can't eat at the restaurant. Throughout the time we were eating we were just receiving dirty looks from the staff so we decided to leave.

My current favorite Peruvian restaurant is Mr. Pollo in West Covina, so I will use that as my 5/5 star exemplar as a basis for comparison to Takatis. I ordered a plate of lomo saltado here, as that is my favorite Peruvian dish. Overall, Takatis is decent, but notably inferior to Mr. Pollo for 2 reasons: The lomo saltado at Takatis is tasty, but it's *MUCH* cheaper at Mr. Pollo (I would reckon that Mr. Pollo also gives you a larger serving as well), and Takatis unfortunately does not have a much-needed self-serve condiment bar with mayo and chimichurri (which Mr. Pollo does). In fact, the staff at Takatis stated they did not have any chimichurri at all to provide me with when I begged them for some. :-( As I live much closer to Mr. Pollo, I would not consider eating at Takatis again unless I happen to be in or near Van Nuys, and decide Peruvian food is what I am craving at the time.

Such a good find in the SFV. It's a mom-&-pop run hole-in-the-wall that serves excellent Peruvian classics. I ordered the Arroz Chaufa and the fiancé ordered this top sirloin dish atop a mound of pesto pasta. It was certainly comfort food at its best. At first, we weren't sure how the seating worked since the employees were extremely busy attending to everyone and their mommas to get us a table. The place was bumping on a Sunday evening at 7:00 pm. But we were seated a couple of minutes later and service got better. The Arroz Chaufa had a generous amount of squid, shrimp, and fish. The rice was flavorful and the serving size was definitely enough for more than one meal. The fiancé's dish was also quite tasty; the beef was tender and well-seasonded while the pasta was scrumptious. Toward the end, one of the servers found out it was our first time at the restaurant so he offered us free samples of the Peruvian beverages they make in-house. So, so good. I really loved the Chicha Morada, their purple drink made of purple corn and pineapple. So refreshing! When we return, I'll definitely order a glass. Parking is tricky (i.e., narrow spaces and very few). The bathroom ain't the cleanest either.

I'm OBSESSED with the Takatis Pollo a la Brasa - I cannot get enough of this moist chicken packed with flavor! I go here several times a week now to get my fix. Yucca fries are amazing. Crisp on outside and soft inside. Everyone that works there is super nice and helpful. Just tried Picarones for dessert and it reminds me of a cross between a fritter and a funnel cake. It's a mildly sweet squash dessert with molasses syrup. Get the purple drink - it's made from purple corn imported from Peru plus pineapple, apple and cinnamon. Peruvian food has so much FLAVOR! I Love Takatis!!!

Came here for jury duty and honestly I've been wanting to try this place for a while. The lady at the counter was really helpful when my friend had questions. I ordered the fried fish with rice and a ceviche appetizer. The portions come fresh and plentiful! Come here hungry. They have fresh juices. They had passion fruit and some corn drink that looks like jamaica, but I didn't get to try. The passion fruit was refreshing. The food is tasty. I loved my fish. It flaked perfectly and the rice wasn't too dry or too wet. The lady saw that we were wearing jury duty badges and she said that we were supposed to get s discount so she threw in a free dessert, which we didn't expect and that was delicious as well! I plan to come back here and not wait until I get called for jury duty again!

I am writing this review because I was completely ignored when I walked in. No greeting. No smile or hello. No I will be right with you. A Latino couple walked in 5 minutes after me and the young lady quickly sat them at a table and gave them menus instead of taking my order. I felt that they didn't want my business so I walked out. There is no excuse for bad service or ignoring customers. Let me be clear that this review is NOT based on their food, but their lack of service and fairness with customers. Not only did this place lack service, but it looked filthy. To me, even if the food is great based on these four- and five-star reviews, I will not tolerate bad service. I definitely will not be back. There is another Peruvian restaurant down the street called Puro Sabor which I usually go to which looks much cleaner and provides a better and more attentive dining experience every time I dine there. Or, if you're in Hollywood, I highly recommend Mario's on Vine and Melrose.

Pretty good peruvian food, the ceviche is tasty and the chicken is kinda of a hit and miss sometimes its really juicy and fresh other times its dry. The place itself is pretty small and the customer service is not that great abd it also takes forever.

I came to this restaurant once before and I remember the food being really good. I decided to place an order to go because I have been craving good Peruvian food. The food did not taste as good as I remembered it. I ordered Lomo Saltado, the meat was dry, did not have much flavor, they didn't include bread and the food was overpriced for the quality.

the most amazing peruvian food ever!!! My friend and I have been looking for a good peruvian place like this for a while! We ordered the ceviche mixto spicy, OMG it is sooo.... BOMB! TO DIE FOR, but WARNING!! ITS SUPER SPICY. you must try it or givie it a shot, if you dont like too spicy just get the mild. but its worth the deliciousness if you can handle it. We also order the the lomo saltado burrito. simply amazing!! and also got the papa rellena just PERFECT!!!

When Takatis asks you how spicy you want your ceviche, they are not joking around. I couldn't taste anything two days after my meal because my taste buds had been seared off my numb tongue with the deadly spicy ceviche. My friends were astounded I didn't end up in the hospital. I can't even tell you how things went on the other end. I respect places that don't play around with spicy. Come here, order ceviche and a chincha. Proceed with caution as to the heat level request. Now, I don't know your heat level but I think I have been eating jalapenos, serranos, thai chili's and more since I could first put down solid food. I was trained early by my father, the Chili master. I am not playing around when I say proceed with caution. In addition to their fried plantains and their table homemade chili sauce, holy smokes, I will be back to try more. The ceviche is out of this world!

Great food. BUT the service absolutely sucks. They take absolutely forever to bring you your food. I went with a group of 10. Some guys got there food and some guys never got to eat because lunch was over. I called my order in decided to stay there to eat. Then they told me it was a problem. Cuz the place was to small for us to stay and eat. I won't be going back.

They have really good pollo saltado, fresh and very generous portions. I wasn't really digging the location it's next to this plasma collection place with some sketchy characters but overall the place was clean food was good.

Let me clarify: the food here is fantastic. 5 stars all the way. The service is the issue. Every experience prior to my June 2015 visit was stellar. This most recent visit was dreadful. A friend and I drove out of our way at rush hour on a Friday afternoon (read: DEATH) to come here for dinner on a Friday night because 1) the food is amazing and 2) we had a Groupon. Didn't realize till we handed it over that we can't use it on Fridays. No biggie, it was our mistake. Waitress leaves us with the menus and does not return for over seven minutes. Mind you the space is tiny- we are constantly looking over at her to try to signal that we're ready as she takes care of other guests and then sits down to look through her phone. Finally she remembers we exist and takes our order. Her response to everything I attempted to order? "We're out of that. We've been really busy and we got a lot of call ins for that." Really? You're out of Sanguchon? When you just put an entire rack of chicken in? You don't have steak or tallarines even though steak is on several menu items? I'm not saying that couldn't have been true, but some clarification is needed here. Friend ended up ordering a quarter chicken. It was delicious but tiny- as in cornish hen tiny. I had the tacu tacu. Again, delicious but there could have been a wee bit more steak given its ratio to the rice. (Again, we ordered steak and chicken yet you said you're out of menu items with steak and chicken?? Explanation please.) Customer service and transparency regarding the availability of items are sorely lacking. Very disappointing since every other time I've been here the service was phenomenal.

Food is pretty good, but super small, and they definitely have a lack of organization, which affects them in everything. I really hope they do something about: Customer service, cleaning the stuff, make sure cooks look neat, and about the place you can't do much about it looks a bit dirty

So this was my first time eating at this restaurant. I was in the mood for some authentic peruvian food. I started off with the Maracuya drink which is made from the actual fruit and not a packet and it was very refreshing. I ordered the lomo saltado and it was all that I was wishing for. The onions were perfectly cooked and the meat was seasoned well. The fries had just enough juice. My sisters had Pollo a la Brasa and it was massive!!! Also it was so tasty I think they cook it right there in the front with wood. I definitely recommend it and it was priced pretty good.11-14 bucks each plate. I recommend it.

typed "amazing food" in Van Nuys, Ca. and Yelpers led me here. AMAZING!!! That Lomo Saltado Burrito is no joke!! I'm stuffed and can't wait to have it again! I called in my order for pick up and I'm glad i did because they told me it would be 25 minutes. Save yourself the wait and call in your order if you plan on getting "to go"

I use to love coming here for the jalea and muscles or chorros ala chalaca no more food was salty and bad going down in quality. I'm sad they are also skimpy on portions, the main point is that the food is no longer good. Go somewhere else.

Small, yummy place. Pretty decent prices for the amount of food you get. Will be back to try the whole chicken meal deal with the wifey. Kino kola = cotton candy flavored soda. Not my cup of tea. PS: You will smell like their wood smoker if you dine in.

It doesn't get the full five stars because they kind of messed up my order , I asked for platanos and they gave me salad instead . Other than that no complaints , this place was good , there are other Peruvian restaurants around the area and this one is a few dollars pricier but to be fair I've only tried the pollo from this place, not Lomo or ceviche

Really amazing pollo a la brasa! I love how they give you big bottles of the sauce so you can use as much as you want! The fried yucca is heavenly. The beans and rice are super tasty.

If your in the Valley and find yourself around Van Nuys and looking for delicious home style food, Takatis is the place... The food here is really good, very tasty. I've been here 4 times now and can't complain....So far I've ordered The half chicken with rice and beans w/ a side of fried plantains... so Yummy! I've also had their Chicken Sandwich which is also crazy good... I plan to try more in the future, but for now, Ive really enjoyed the chicken plate and sandwich. I'm definitely a fan.

So I've come maybe 3 times now and tried a couple items. The first time I was here was months ago so I'll stick with the two most recent visits. First one was when I called in an order for pick up of the sauguchon sandwich the other day. I came in, waited a few minutes past the foretold wait time which was 15mins. 25 mins later, I have my food and was on my way. I didn't get to eat it right then as I was busy but I took it home and popped it in the oven for reheating and it was great! My second visit was last night. I'm semi happy with the visit but also left more to be desired from the experience. The staff was nice, but mildly unprofessional. It's not a big deal since the restaurant is so relaxed but still. Service was on the slow side and I wondered if they were killing a pig and stuffing a sausage to make my friend's salchipapa back there. When the food came out, it looked great, but looks were a little deceiving. I got the green noodle and steak plate, which I had tried before elsewhere before here. I wasn't very impressed with it. The noodles tastes a overlooked and I'm quite sure the steak came out of the freezer which didn't leave the best taste. Steak was tough and overall was just flat. I'd be ok accepting that if I came to a burger joint and ordered a steak, but this is supposed to be a specialty item. Not impressed! The pricing is askew by about 4-5$. My bland steak and noodles cost about 15$ Then chicha morada was 2.75$ with no refills, which is kind of a bummer since it's only tea and can't be that expensive to make. It's pricey and not that great for what it ordered. I'll stick to the sauguchon but I wouldn't order anything with steak again.

My third time here, like the food but they have pretty horrible service. You would think that at 7pm you'd find chicken sense it's a chicken restaurant, well, not the case, not to mention no ceviche mixto or 1/2 of the items on their menu. After 45 minutes they had some chicken available, yet they said they could not split a takeout chicken in two boxes, really? Too much trouble?? Good food but bad service= not returning.

Family late lunch here on Sunday was a smart choice for our group of 5. We enjoyed all of our food including Calamari, ceviche, medio pollo with sweet potato fries and plantains, seafood chaufa (our favorite of all the dishes), and lomo saltado (great flavor but we think it was overcooked). Service by the gracious dad (or grandpa) was cordial but slow. Come if you want a nice long lunch with conversation in this humble, clean and tasty restaurant with parking.

Have I ever tred Peruvian food? No Do I now have a new found love for it? Yes! Sweet lordie, how have I never had pollo a la brasa before? That salty, juicy goodness that oozes from the chicken is too die for. The 1/4 Pollo a la brasa meal with 2 sides ($6.99) is just enough to make you feel satisfied. I went with the yucca fritas & beans (which were both amazing). They have a variety of chili sauces but I thought the flavor of the chicken was amazing just how it was. They have a variety on the menu, but I will work my way through "Peruvian" cuisine the more I dine here. Very minimal seating inside which forces you to awkwardly stand next to the small counter and watch the 6-7 tables like a hawk. They are pretty good about geting people out so someone else can sit which is nice. The small space has the wood fired oven in the back where you can see allllll the chickens being roasted to crunchy goodness. This place makes me laugh, the decor screams wannabe Peruvian gastropub - I'm not hating but it just throws you off a bit - good for picture taking I suppose. The parking lot is shared & small, so it might be hard to find parking. Also, make sure you get an Inca Kola or the reddish looking agua fresca drink (starts with a C I think).

Worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life. The woman working is extremely rude and always has an attitude. Was ignored for about 5 minutes, no greeting or hello. But when a group of Hispanic decent enters, she greets and seats them immediately! The woman has an unnecessarily rude and defensive attitude.. Warning: Do not come here with a Groupon. They will give you so much grief! In all honesty, the food was great. Some of the best Peruvian food I have ever had. But the customer service was so terrible, not even good food would bring me to giving them another cent of my money. This restaurant does not even deserve one star, let alone five.

Tallarin Saltado, the best I have had at any Peruvian places. To me (yes, to me). I don't really live near Takatis, and I go here at least once every 3 weeks. Our waitress knows us pretty well and knows what I come here for. I have scoured most of LA to find another tallarin spot, and they are never up to par with Takatis. I did notice they use linguini, where most places use spaghetti. Maybe that's what holds in the flavor a lot better. Since other places used spaghetti, the noodles seem to have a watery taste to them. I am just saying I have no idea how pastas work. Their polla a la brasa is so dirty, it looks like it has been rolled in mud. But did I mention that's why it's full of flavor. Chicken so tender I eat it like I was in a cartoon. You know, take a whole piece, slide it in your mouth (get your mind out of the gutter boy) and pull it out and that bone is literally bone dry. So god forsaken juicy. One time I came here and I was being adventurous and I got my sweet potato steamed. Who does that? So I had to try it. Damn now when ever I go to a place that has it steamed, I want it prepared this way. I recently moved to Dallas, and all I know is when I go to visit family or friends In LA, I will be back. This place is really missed, especially as I write this review

I got a recommendation for the Sanguchon at Takatis so I decided to order it to go during a work day. They said it would take about 20 minutes but we ended up waiting so it took about 30 minutes total. The sanguchon was really delicious. It's a messy sandwich with chicken, egg, veggies, sauce, and a thin slice of sweet potato. I would recommend that you keep the wrapper on as you eat. They give you these green and orange sauces. The orange one is spicier but didn't have great flavor. I really enjoyed the flavor on the green. One of my coworkers tried their chicken and said it was delicious. The chicken was well-seasoned and the meat was very moist. They just weren't too crazy about the sauces. They give you 2 sides for a half chicken. The plantain was especially good. If I could, I would order a big order of plantain by itself. They have Peruvian sodas and I always get Inca Cola when I eat Peruvian food. You can get a big bottle here or just the can.

I never actually been inside as of yet but I do work down the street and one of my co-workers decided to order from here, so we did. We got the lomo saltado burrito and some salchi papas and holy crap!! I am in love!!!! That is all I can say right now. My mouth is watery!

  • Tawny V.

Very small cute place! Rotisserie chicken was seasoned extremely well. I can't quite figure what rub they use but it was darn good! Rice and beans were also very pleasing.. Lomo saltado burrito?- I can't say it was my favorite- it was hard to balance the full flavor of the chicken and the lack of flavor in the burrito, although we got the food to go and due to an inevitable situation we ate the food 30 mins later- calamari was no longer crispy but good. I'd come back for that and the chicken. Probably should order a Lomo saltado plate instead of the burrito? The green aji sauce also lacked flavor- just seemed like I was dipping into nothing spectacular. But the aji yellow or in this case orange colored sauce was spicy and we'll it was poured on everything!!

I think this place is ok. Not crazy good as the reviews are saying. The pricing is average. I guess there's not a lot of competition for Peruvian food. Had the burrito with beef and it was tasty. For $7.99 it's not cheap.

Don't let the bum sleeping in the parking lot deter you from trying this place. It's deceptively contemporary inside with the cool restored wood counter space and cool mining lamps over head. Amazing sanguchon... I've never had anything like it in my life. It was sweet, savory, it had a little crunch to it. It was heaven in my mouth! The chicken in my sanguchon was really moist probably due to the fact that they had a huge rotisserie with chicken spinning around. It was the most delicious merry-go-round I've ever seen. I would definitely come back and try some of the other stuff.

Another Peruvian restaurant in Van Nuys, this spot is just up the street from Puro Sabor and specialises in Pollo a la brasa, a wood-fired rotisserie chicken preparation. Do yourself a favour and start with that, and get the yucas fritas (fried yucca root) and plantanos fritos (fried plantains). If you're still hungry, the anticuchos (grilled beef hearts), lomo saltado, or ceviche will definitely set you right. Puro Sabor's ceviche is a bit better, but Takati's doesn't disappoint. You get a trio of sauces - fans of Peruvian food will immediately recognise two of these as rocoto (red) and aji amarillo (yellow); Takati's also offers a jalapeno-serrano based green one. Start with the aji amarillo. Ricardo Zarate makes a mounted butter sauce with aji amarillo that has carbo-terrified Angelenos begging for scraps of bread to wipe the last molecules of it from their plates. Yes, it's that damned delicious. If the first two's flavours strike you as quite different than the usual chile peppers, it's because they ARE different species than the chiles you've probably normally had. Rocoto is a fiery round cultivar of Capsicum pubescens, while aji amarillo is an even more unusual cultivar of Capsicum baccatum. Few North Americans have had C. baccatum chiles of any kind, aside from maybe the South African "peppadew" chiles. The place is run by people who genuinely care about their product and introducing the wonders that are Peruvian cuisine to a wider audience. The service is straightforward, generous, and welcoming. It has a bit of a rustic feel to the place - anchored in part by the wood-pile and big rotisserie that dominates one wall of the dining area. And yet with its bright modern styled decor, it feels quite lively and fresh. Their menu is very well illustrated with big full-colour photographs, which makes Takati's an excellent choice for those completely new to Peruvian food. That coupled with the staff's willingness to give you a try of many items before committing, makes this place truly a no-brainer.

This time last week I could look you dead in the eye and say "I've never tried Peruvian food before"; however thanks to Takatis I can now say that I have and I really liked it. Takatis is a little family run spot kinda close to the orange line (yay I love when work takes you to delicious places!) they have a small seating area of about 8-10 tables. I went with the quarter chicken meal with 2 sides (fries and rice) which was around $7. I also went with one of their fresh made juices (I forgot what it was called, it was a Peruvian word so I'd probably misspell it anyways - anyways the purple juice) it had apples, a Peruvian something in it, and cinnamon, it was delicious and the white person in me would describe it as "Christmassy". It was served cold (iced) however they were saying that it is brewed hot and then chilled, so I wonder what it would taste like warm.... Anyways, I digress. Delicious food, good portions. Give Takatis a shot!

By far more than just a chicken place. I wanted something delicious and more delicious. I came here with someone who is native to Peru and the food was fabulous. There was plenty of parking in front of the building and on the street. I ordered a whole chicken and it came with two sides. I got french fries and beans. The Pollo a la Brasa was soooo good. My tastebuds were singing in pure ectasy. The chicken came with 3 different sauces. I have to say that I was a bit obsessed with the sauces. Theres a yellow, green and orange. Varying levels of spice. All delicious. The beans were pinto in a white sauce it was soo flavorful. The plate was a whole chicken and it came with a monstrous side of handcut french fries. HUGE amount. We also ordered Lomo Saltado and Maracuya(Passion Fruit) drink and a Chica Morada (purple corn) drink. The lomo saltada was fantastic full of flavor with hints of soy and tomatoes and onions and a side of rice and french fries within. The Passion Fruit drink was great, we asked and they were made from the fruit not a package or powder and the same with the chica morada (we weren't big fans). I will definitely be back. The chicken was 18.99 for a whole chicken it it can easily feed 3-4 people. I want to eat my leftovers now.

Food is ok but service is horrible. They say they close at 9 but really you have to get there at 8:30 to place your order. We got there at 8:45 and they took our order and everything then came out at 8:50 and told us that they couldn't place our order because they close the kitchen at 8:45. I get that you want to go home but you could've told us that you were closed before you started putting our order in. The worse thing is that there really isn't anything they do (or did) to make things right for the customer specially given that this was completely their fault. We've been coming here for years and never have we been treated so badly. Will think twice before bringing our business here next time. And definitely will be telling our large families about this.

So a friend of mine posted pix of some lunch she had from here so I HAD to give it a try since I don't think I've ever had PERUVIAN food before AND it's not too far from my apt. ========= LOCATION ========= Located in the HEART of Van Nuys on Van Nuys Blvd. in between Victory and Vanoween. It's inside of a small strip mall, it's located at the entrance directly on Van Nuys Blvd. In side it's pretty small, maybe 8-10 tables, a counter, fountain drink area and an old TV perched on the wall that was broadcasting soccer. (Real Madrid vs. someone) ========= THE FOOD ========= ~ SANGUCHON - Chicken, tomato, lettuce, scrambled egg, fried yams, cheese. This was AMAZING. It's their most popular item. I was hesistant when I saw the ingredients and asked for "no egg" but the counter guy reassured me to try it WITH it. It's actually SCRAMBLED in, not fried. It was unbelievably delicious! There's an orange sauce that comes on the side of this. Make sure to add it in. (5/5) yelp.com/biz_photos/taka… ~ LOMO SALTADO - Their other most popular item. It tasted like a BEED FRIED RICE burrito. Like fried rice from a Thai restaurant. It was good, like a 3.5. Interesting sauce, next time I'll ask for EXTRA sauce. (4/5) yelp.com/biz_photos/taka… ~ KONA KOLA - It's a Peruvian "Cola" soda they have their. It tasted like a pinapple / banana type flavor. It was delicious. Came in a can. (5/5) ============= FINAL VERDICT ============= The place was kind've expensive for a hole-in-the-wall in the heart of Van Nuys. The Sanguchon was $8, the Lomo Saltado was $7, both plus tax. However the Sanguchon was simply amazing and I'll definitely be back for that. The counter guy was friendly, talkative, asked if i liked my soda... asked me to try some of their punch without me asking. Really friendly. Try it out. If I remember correctly they have coupons that come in the mail.

I went here because of the Yelp reviews, but it just goes to show that maybe people don't know what really good food is. The food was really bland and not that good. I love Marios on Melrose for Peruvian food. I guess there's no Peruvian restaurants in the valley which sucks because I love there then food. I'm giving 4 stars because i don't want people to go off one negative review

I really like this place. Thee food they serve here is always delicious. I recommend the ceviche. It's got the right amount of acid and is worth the price. Most go here for the pollo ala brasa and I think it's good too but I would rather get the takeout specials for the chicken than eat it at the restaurant. I was impressed by the amount of stuff in the sanguchon. Pretty much anything you would want in a chicken sandwich is in there including egg and fries. The fries in it are like super thin and crispy adding texture. Such a good bargain.

I'm not a Peruvian food connoisseur so I'm not sure how "authentic" this truly is, but I think it's a great place to get that introduction. If you're scared about what to try, the rotisserie chicken is definitely worth getting, they season it to perfection! Delicious. Don't trust all the pictures in the menu though, I thought the ceviche plate would be small and was hesitating on buying it as it's one of the higher priced items, but the plate that came out was huge! I shared it with my husband and let a few other family members try some, so that was a welcome surprise. And it was perfectly "cooked" in the citrus juice, I've seriously never had octopus that tender. If you crave that seafood flavor with the right acidic notes, thir ceviche was one of the best I've ever had. Thinking about it now makes me yearn... They also have three sauces that are AMAZING to pour on almost whatever you order. Red (a little spicy but more of a chipotle chile flavor), yellow (a teeny bit spicy, mostly just light and savory), and green (tastes almost avocado-like but has a nice acidity and a hint of cilantro and savory-ness). I use that stuff like it's going out of style, wish they sold it!

I went today for a lomo satado and the prices went up since my last visit. Food is great, but service sucks!!! I called to place my order when I went to pick it up the cashier was so rude. I asked her for the name of one of the desserts she only told me the name and walked away never smiled she was just rude her whole attitude with people like her make me not want to go back.

I really like the chicken, ceviche and anticuchos... That's all I've tried from this place- and all of them were A+. As far as the service, they can try a little more to show happier faces, no matter where you go customer service is very important! But I love the chicken so much that what the heck! Just ignore the grouchy faces.

The best Peruvian chicken in the San Fernando Valley! I have tried 5 different Peruvian restaurants and this is the only one we keep coming back to. It's a small place, but don't let that fool you...this place is packed with flavor!

Things to try: Lomo Saltado, Jalea de Mariscos and Anticuchos (which they never have but when they do you will know what I'm talking about) chicha morada yumm and if you still have space left finish out with some Picarones (mother in law things they just missing by having good coffee to go with dessert but you can't go wrong with this place if you like Peruvian food everything tastes fresh made just for you. customer service is blah... honestly the food will make up for that hahaha :)

While serving jury duty at Van Nuys Court, I decided to venture to Takatis and satisfy my cravings for Peruvian food. It's a fairly small hole-in-the-wall restaurant located in dingy part of town and tucked away inside a small strip lot. The decor is clean, modern, simple and casual. There visually enticing menu with pictures of their dishes steered me to the lomo saltado which I recently tried and to me the proper way to judge a Peruvian restaurant. This generous dose of carbs is composed of sautéed sliced beef, vegetables and french fries served over a bed of white rice. Although decent tasting, the meat was to thinly slice and the portions small. Compared to other places which comes with soup and bread, it was slightly expensive, especially at $15. Also, the green aji sauce that I so often love and usually end up squirting all over my food was watery and not as spicy. Overall - service was friendly and helpful, but unfortunately my lomo saltado wasn't on par and will need to be satisfied elsewhere.

Service is ok. Not the best service. They seem to have young waiters with a cocky attitude. Anyway, the food is decent but not worth the price. In my opinion they over price their food. Food doesn't taste fresh. Especially their white rice.

The setting is modern and the food is traditional Puruvian. The Inca soda is good and I like the Pollo a la brasa is good also!

This was an excellent Peruvian dining experience. I thoroughly enjoyed my Lomo Saltada dish. The meat was cooked to perfection, the rice was tasty, and the fries they poured over the meat were also really good. The service was friendly and attentive, I tipped my usual 20%, and I'll be recommending this restaurant to all my friends who are interested in trying Peruvian cuisine. The only downside I see about dining here is that the restaurant is located in a not-so-nice part of town. On the upside, the restaurant has its own parking lot. The area doesn't seem dangerous per se but it's definitely pretty gritty.

I came here while serving on a jury at Van Nuys Courthouse and was served to-die-for, last-meal rotisserie chicken. It was perfectly cooked and had deep flavor from an incredible marinade and the huge woodfire oven sitting in the corner of the small dining area. The fried yuca and plantain sides were perfect and the salsas/sauces were great as well. If my experience was consistent with their day to day quality, I can't recommend this place enough. They also gave me a 10% discount for having my juror badge. I was in and out for less than $7.

I decided to come here after the reviews on yelp. It's a very small place with limited seating and parking is limited as well but there is street parking. The food here was great. The fried rice was good, yucca fries were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, mussels were on the small side, but still good. If you're not into lime and citrus then skip the mussels, but I love it. The passion fruit juice was sweet and refreshing. I would definitely come back to eat here. I had to knock off a star for the awful condition of the bathroom, I felt dirtier when I came out of it. Just come with hand sanitizer instead.

I had lunch at this place for the first time, I had 1/4 chicken (breast and wing) it was very flavourful and moist, you can defently taste the smokie wood flavor, they sure know how to cook chicken.

Looks like I have a strong Valley option for pollo a la brasa: 1/4 Pollo - great texture and flavor Side Fries - perfectly crispy Side Salad - fresh, came with honey mustard dressing And three mild-to-medium sauces to push everything around in. The photo menu is mouthwatering; I've already identified lots of other items to try in the future. Friendly, family-run vibe, lots of parking - definitely check it out!

I was quite disappointed with Takatis. Perhaps I just had a dish that wasn't the greatest as I should have probably ordered the chicken, but I didn't. I ordered the $15 seafood ceviche and although I appreciated that the dish was light (probably one of the less heavy dishes) it was drowning in citrus. It was too sour. For that reason, I've had better. I sadly won't be returning. Service was great, however, and the heavier dishes looked delicious.

The food was delicious and was made fresh. The service wasn't bad either. My sandwich was a little greasy but the salchipapas was great, the hot dog was very meaty, not those cheap weiners and their fries are delicious. The sauces were so good made everything even better. However it isn't cheap and it's not that fast either.

The best service and delicious food! Flavors were unique and true to the Peruvian cuisine . Hands down this is my family and mines favorite spot in the Valley, not to mention the service we received was exceptional! Must come!

Came here today instead of Don Felix in LA. This place sucks sooo bad! I don't even want to get into details. If you love Peruvian food and know good places and want to try a new place, go for it .... Just... Don't come here.

I don't even really know where to start.. Papa relleno was a great start, worth trying, but $7.99 is a little steep..I ordered the lomo Saltado (which is a favorite dish of mine) and the bf ordered the pollo a la brasa.. I was not impressed w the lomo. The meat was not very tender, and I feel the dish should have had a little more juice from the meat to toss in w all of the fries and onions.. It was so-so, I probably def would not order again.. Now the pollo was very tender and the flavor was delicious! If I were in the area and had someone to dine w, the whole chicken option is perfect and worth the cost. My major complaints are the lack of service and sour faces.. It really irks me when service is crappy and I'm a patron willing to help support your business.. The bill came to us and it was a little over $40.. I feel the prices for quality should be a little lower. This place has potential.. And everything is always better w a smile :)

BANG, BANG! Let me tell you, pollo ala brasa is where it's at! F' Pollo Loco, or any corporate chicken joint. I've given up! I now trust that little holes in the wall such as this one will give more for your buck. Anyway, over the weekend my Peruvian hunk figured I graduated and I was eligible to be introduced :p He orders a whole chicken, picarrones, and something else that I was not aware of, tried, and liked... (cow's heart :/ ) I loved every bite. Very authentic and fresh. If you're ever in the area, screw Pollo Loco and head on down here. Probably just as inexpensive, but better quality. I'm no chicken expert, but I sure as hell know when it's bomb. Size is average. Parking is on the street. Service could be faster, but not overwhelming.

Came back recently and it was still delicious. My mouth started watering the moment I walked into the place. The side of yuca that I'd previously complained about being too small contained about 6-7 pieces, which was ample. No more complaints. The chicken is still amazing. Coriander is a dominant flavor. Just awesome. Will be coming back often.

We've been here several times and each time the service is great. The food is good with a couple of stand outs. The sanguchon is without a doubt one of the best chicken sandwiches you will ever taste. For one thing, it kind of smells like an In N' Out cheese burger, and I mean that in the best way possible. The chicken is tender and flavorful. The sauce is also quite tasty, resembling a mixture of ketchup and mayonnaise. The bun is toasted almost like panini style and they put these little fried potato sticks inside so there is a complexity of flavors and texture. There is also an egg inside and unlike most other sandwiches, the addition of the egg actually works and adds to the taste of the sandwich. If you plan on getting a second dish (and you should), you should get the arroz chaufa which we usually get with beef. This is, again, likely one of the best fried rice dishes that you will ever taste whether it's in a Peruvian, Chinese or Japanese restaurant. It's that good, bettering most Chinese restaurants we've visited. As for other things, the mixed ceviche is good but nowhere as stellar as the sanguchon and arroz chaufa. The lomo saltado is seasoned well and the beef tastes good, though it tends to be on the more well done and slightly tougher side. The sauce, however, is fantastic and works very well with the white rice that comes with the dish. The fries that come with the lomo saltado are on the soggy side but since I haven't been to many Peruvian restaurants, I'm not sure if that's the way it's supposed to be. We've also had the Picante de Mariscos (seafood in spicy broth) and Jalea de Mariscos (deep fried breaded mixed seafood). Service is great. I think the place is family owned and the owners always seem very friendly and helpful. Since we were new to Peruvian food at our first visit, they offered a sample of the purple corn drink (chicha morada) which is really good and they suggested this dessert which was like a really good fried donut with ice cream which was phenomenal. During our last visit, we had brought cheesecake since we were celebrating someone coming in from out of town. Without a hitch, when they saw that we had opened the cheesecake, they brought over plastic plates and forks without us even asking. So, all in all, a great family run restaurant with great service and some really stand out dishes that will definitely make you rethink what a great chicken sandwich should be and what great fried rice should be.

Today was my first time trying the food at this place. I ordered pollo saltado and ceviche. It was amazing! The pollo saltado was cooked to perfection and was very tasty. The ceviche was beyond my expectations. It was so delicious and it's definitely a must. I highly recommend this place. We were helped by a man who was running the cash register and I have to say that he has great customer service skills. From the moment we walked in he acknowledged us right away and sat us down. He immediately took our order for drinks. I wasn't familiar with their Maracuya and Chicha Morada and he was kind enough to offer me a sample of both. I went for the Maracuya and it was so refreshing especially with this hot weather. This man was very courteous and for a moment I thought that he was the owner until I asked him. He kept coming to our table to make sure we were happy with our food and always had a smile on his face. Now that's how you run a business! Delicious food and outstanding customer service. Will definitely come back!

I love finding places that are close to my house. I have seriously passed by this place soo many times and never thought of going in. Until...(thanks to taking a Spanish class)...I wanted to try some Peruvian food after someone did a report on it. The little piggy inside me was at attention! LOL So I went on a search with one of my Spanish buddies in tow. Wallah! I found this place and the reviews and pictures looked great. You, my fellow yelpers...are awesomely right about the place. So here's what we ordered... - Burrito Saltado ($6.99): It was so good! Combined with the arsenal of sauces - red, yellow, and green. Yah, I have no idea what they were but they were all tasty. I know the green one is the traditional kind. It wasn't huge and I would've easily finished it. Inside was tender beef, fries, rice, beans, and some other goodies. LOL - Sanguchon ($6.99): Essentially it's a grilled chicken sandwich. It has scrambled eggs, sautéed onions, and other yummy stuff. Very juicy and messy but those are things that I like. :) - Picarones ($6.99): Peruvian donuts! Yes, please! Sch-wing! :) These are fried to order and glazed with (I think) maple syrup. They don't taste like anything you will get at the donut shop and you get 6 pieces. Very filling for 2 people! - Inca Kola (close to 2 dollars): Finally! I get to taste what this was all about. I'm not a huge soda person. It tasted like pineapple, but smells like bubble gum. LOL It was ok but I was glad it was just a can or I would've had to force myself to finish it. - M...(passion fruit drink) ($2.10): I can't remember the name of it but it's orange in color. And the taste reminds me of a guava. It was good and I would've rather have had this than my Inca Kola. Total with tax and tip:$32.00. VERY reasonably priced! The place is not that big. Probably 8 tables or so. The service was great and our waitress was very friendly. This is definitely a mom and pop place. There is no silverware. When they set up our place mat it was plastic spoons and forks. I thought that was weird for a restaurant, but it really didn't bother me. They do offer take-out which I may take advantage of another day. LOL There is still so much try. The little piggy did a back flip. I can't wait to come back. See you soon! :)

TAKATIS! Lomo Saltado burrito is the business! Although last time I had it, there was way too much rice and not enough steak n stuff. The meat is so tender and juicy. And they're maracuya is really good as well. I'm lookinbt forward to trying their saungchon or however you spell big a** sandwich haha

Horrible service. It took them half an hour to let us know that one of the dishes we had ordered wasn't available. Seriously? Half an hour to tell us we have to order sometging else? And then wait for it? And on top of it all the other dishes weren't ready either.

I walked in wanting to have a 4 star experience however I only can give it 3 stars. Don't get wrong this is a strong 3 stars, even 3.5. Quality: fresh tasting, homie, Peruvian sentiment, good Portion, not too much, not too little. Atmosphere: I liked this small locale. I actually felt like I was in Peru it was a strange welcoming feeling. Enough tables but I can see how it can get crowded in a rush. Service: just... Ok. Left me with many desires to give them a customer service training class. Price: overcharged. I am a fan of Peruvian food. I've been to many Peruvian places. The price for my loom saltado was way overpriced for the potion size and quality. Not really worth the $15 I paid for it. Seemed more of a $10-11 plate. Can Soda: $1+ ??? What? Anyways, I'll be back to try their famous sandwich.

Three of us serving on jury duty at the nearby LA Superior Court decided to try this place for lunch. We were all delighted by how delicious and reasonable the food was. Two of us had the crispy-on-the-outside, juicy-on-the-inside Peruvian chicken breasts with a choice of 5 different sauces - tried two of the hot ones, which were great. Our sides were a salad (not just lettuce and tomato) and fries, which were tasty and plentiful, though unfortunately soggy. Our other friend had a papa rellena - beautifully seasoned ground beef wrapped in mashed potato, then fried with a light crust. Excellent. Takatis is small and unpretentious, and the staff is caring and talented. Definitely going back.

Do yourself a favor and get a sanguchon sandwich. Don't question it, just do it. It was insane. The peruvian tamale was great, seriously, but I pretty much want to eat nothing but the Sanguchon sandwich for the rest of my life. I cannot comment on the service because we only had takeout, but it was a little hole in the wall type place, FYI.

Although I didnt have to wait long and the service is alright. The food is not. I went mostly for the chicken as I was born in Peru and still love Peruvian food. The chicken was driy and the fries tasted like yesterday fries plus they had no flavor. One thing I like was that they let you buy a 2 liter inka-cola and they let you drink the soda there. I love Bonanos Chicken on Reseda and Roscoe and this Takatis place was a disappointment. Although, I was very hungry I did not enjoy it as much as Bonanos Chicken. Bonanos Chicken is juicy and their fries are hot and a lot thicker. Bonanos makes the best mayo sauce and it makes a big difference in taste as well. Bonanos makes a great Salad and it comes with dressing. While Takatis makes a Salad with no dressing whatsoever. Try eating lettuce with nothing on it. I asked the waiter at Takatis to bring some mayo and he brought us a few packets of mayo like Carls Junior has. Bonanos Chicken also has a spicy chile called Rocoto and it can get pretty bad if you put a lot on your chicken, you will have tears coming out of your eyes very quickly. Takatis doesn't have Rocoto. Takaties Ketchup sucked!!! It seems they had this ketchup stored for a long time since it tasted like a 10 month old ketchup. The price tag on the food at takatis was $28.00 including drinks and tax. I took a party of 5 and even they told me that the chicken was not as good as Bonanos. I hope this review helps and I hope the owner of this restaurant reads the review and makes changes. Make changes now or I assure you this restaurant wont last. The Chef walked around my table and he asked if everything was okay. I was going to share my 2 cents with him but I decided not to as I was hungry, it was raining, I was tired and didnt feel like driving to another restaurant for better food. Now that I share my 2 cents with Yelp. I hope the food gets better since it under new management.
